About HEIC to PNG

A practical, privacy-first converter for HEIC and HEIF photos—built to run in your browser.

Why we built this

Apple devices save photos in HEIC/HEIF format by default. While efficient, many apps and websites still don't support it. Converting to PNG or JPG solves the compatibility problem, but most online converters require uploading your photos to a server.

We wanted a simpler option: convert a copy on your own device, without creating an account or sending the original photo through the conversion flow.

How it works

HEIC to PNG runs in your browser using WebAssembly and Web Workers. Files stay on your device. Conversion and downloads happen in your browser, and your files are never uploaded.

What we convert

We currently support two conversion paths:

Photo metadata

Photo metadata is removed by default. Your converted image does not include GPS, camera, or date-taken data.

Limits and browser support

To keep conversion reliable on everyday devices, each converter supports up to 20 files per batch, 25 MB per file, and 100 MB of input per batch. High-resolution photos use more memory. See the Windows guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.

Privacy and analytics

Photo metadata is removed by default. We may collect minimal, non-file usage analytics; it never includes file names, file contents, EXIF, or exact file sizes. Read the full Privacy details.
